Olsen Tool & Plastics is seeking a part-time HR Generalist to join their small team (about 30 hours per week). The ideal candidate would be a warm, kind individual who desires to invest in a group of people with diverse needs. This individual would also serve as an ambassador for the company’s values, culture and vision. This individual can enjoy a fast pace environment with varying tasks and responsibilities. About Olsen Tool & Plastics: Plastic injection molding manufacturer located in southwestern suburbs of Minneapolis, established in 1958. Family owned company, 45 employees including temporary workers. Production floor runs Monday – Thursday with (2) twelve-hour shifts. This part time position is not eligible for company benefits. Responsibilities: Develop, recommend, and help implement operating policy and procedural improvements. Oversee the administration of hiring for open positions including paperwork and administrative tasks and new hire orientation. Fill temporary staffing requirements; develop and maintain relationships with employment agencies and other recruitment sources. Administer and oversee the employee performance and wage review program. Help employees understand their benefits and guide them on how to obtain answers to their benefit questions. Develop and enforce company policies. Maintain, update and distribute the employee handbook and draft and amend policies as needed. Prepare Workers’ Compensation claims documentation accurately. Involvement with cross-training of employees and succession planning. Assist with special projects as assigned. Promote and maintain good business relationships with customers, vendors and co-workers. Cover the phone, sort and deliver mail, and perform office opening and closing tasks for receptionist in his/her absence Requirements: Minimum of 5 years of Human Resource Experience. Proficient in Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point. Know and understand Federal and State employment laws and help the company maintain legal compliance. Organized, efficient, amiable, detail oriented and execute well. Actively involved on the production floor during all shifts; may include evenings after 7:00 p.m. or very early morning hours.
